Where does your data come from?
We use data from three primary sources:
- Rebrickable.com: Comprehensive LEGO database with sets, parts, and minifigures
- BrickLink.com: Real-time market pricing data
- Brickset.com: User reviews, building instructions, additional images, and detailed set information
We’re grateful to these services for making their data available.

Can I use both Rebrickable and Brickset?
Yes! You can connect both services simultaneously. Each service offers different features:
- Rebrickable: Set lists, build tracking, parts inventory management

When you ask to “add to my collection” without specifying which service, the AI will ask whether you want to add to Rebrickable, Brickset, or both.
MCP Integration
What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard protocol that allows AI assistants to access external data sources. With MCP, you can integrate Brick Directory directly into Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Gemini, and other AI assistants.
How do I set up MCP integration?
Follow our detailed setup guide: MCP Setup Guide
The basic steps are:
- Install an MCP-compatible AI assistant (e.g., Claude Desktop)
- Configure the Brick Directory MCP server
- Start asking LEGO questions directly in your AI assistant!
Which AI assistants support MCP?
MCP is supported by:
- Claude Desktop (Anthropic)
- ChatGPT Desktop (OpenAI)
- Google AI Studio (Google)
- Other MCP-compatible clients
Why should I use MCP instead of the web chat?
MCP allows you to use your preferred AI assistant with Brick Directory data, giving you more flexibility and control. You can combine LEGO data with other knowledge sources and workflows as well as other MCP servers. For example, you can ask your AI assistant to read the list of your sets from Google Drive and then ask for more information about those sets.

Technical Questions
Why isn’t the AI giving me accurate answers?
AI responses are generally accurate but not perfect. If you encounter inaccurate information:
- Try rephrasing your question
- Be more specific (e.g., include set numbers)
- Use the in-app feedback feature to report response issues directly in the chat
- For general questions, visit our discussion forum
We continuously improve our AI’s accuracy based on user feedback.
Pricing data is sourced from BrickLink and is updated regularly, but market prices change frequently. For critical purchasing decisions, we recommend verifying prices directly on BrickLink.
Can I use Brick Directory for commercial purposes?
Currently, Brick Directory is intended for personal use. If you’d like to use it for commercial purposes, please contact us at hello@brick.directory to discuss licensing.
Is there an API?
The MCP server effectively functions as an API. For direct API access or bulk data needs, please contact us at hello@brick.directory.
Why is the service sometimes slow?
We’re working on performance improvements! Slowness can occur due to:
- High demand (we’re a small service)
- Complex queries requiring database searches
- AI processing time
We’re continuously optimizing performance.
Data & Content
How often is the data updated?
- LEGO Data: Updated daily from Rebrickable
- Pricing Data: Directly from BrickLink
- New Sets: Added shortly after Rebrickable includes them
Can I suggest missing features?
Absolutely! We welcome feature requests:
The discussion forum is the best place to share ideas and see what other users are requesting!
